Mission, Vision and Core Values:

Mission Statement: Our mission is to glorify God through the spoken word, prayer, sacrament, music, service and example;  to promote the Reformed faith; and to equip and support Christians in the Hernando area, in the United States and throughout the world.

Vision (Spiritual Goals) Statement: For now and in future generations, Hernando ARP Church is committed to be a Christ-centered, Gospel-driven, Spirit-empowered and equipping church where every member is a minister and a missionary.

Our Core Values: We hold that the sixty-six books of the Holy Bible are the inerrant, infallible, and fully authoritative Word of God.  We hold that salvation comes by the sovereign grace of God alone, through faith alone in the person and finished work of Jesus Christ alone, effected by the regeneration of the Holy Ghost; and that there is no salvation by any other means. We believe that the Westminster Confession of Faith; along with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms; describe valid doctrines which are profitable to guide and direct the Church of Jesus Christ. We are commanded to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations, and thus, we are committed to speak the truth in love to the world around us, especially to those in our community who are unchurched; but also to those who may have abandoned the church, or who may have become rightly disenchanted with liberalism in the church. We believe that our children are to be reared in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, taught the things of God, and trained in the doctrines of the church; that we may be the effective instruments of God to the end that they will become regenerate, and therefore, will provide Godly influence upon future generations.

What we Emphasize

Gospel Preaching and Traditional Worship: We celebrate the truthfulness of God’s Word and we delight in singing historic songs of Christian faith and devotion. The corporate worship of God is a happy and sacred privilege. We have periodic Hymn Sings which are open to the community. “We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your Name is near” (Ps.75:1).

Christian Education: We believe that people of all age groups should be thoroughly instructed in the Word of God. Ideally, Teaching is about both Ministry and Compassion (See Mark 6:34).  In addition to our Sunday and Wednesday Education  opportunities, there is a Ladies’ Bible Study at the Church. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Tim.3:16).

Emphasis on Prayer: “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thess.5:17). We round out our Sunday School hour with congregational Prayer Requests and a Season of Prayer.

Pastoral and Congregational Care: “Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep” (Rom.12:15). According to Gal.6:2, we are to bear one another’s burdens. Therefore, we attempt daily to love one another in the Holy Spirit.

Wonderful Fellowship: We cherish our fellowship time together, especially between Sunday School and Church as well as on Wednesday nights for our fellowship meal!  We also have sustained fellowship during our fabulous cookouts. Jesus said: “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35).
